Why Should I Choose A Metal Roof?

Metal roofs have a low chance of hail damage.
Residential steel roofing is commonly selected in two thicknesses, called “gauge.”  The lower the number, the thicker the metal.  Think of it as running a thick sheet of metal between two rollers; running through lots of times makes it thinner, when only being pressed a few times leaves it thicker.  26-gauge is thicker and has the best hail resistance.  29-gauge is slightly thinner, which is more economical, but not as hail resistant as 26.  80% of our customers select 26-gauge because of the frequent occurrence of hail in Morgan County.

Metal roofs can be completed quickly and professionally.
Our metal roof manufactures are well-stocked and have short production and delivery schedules.  Materials can be delivered in as little as a week from date of order.  Our highly-experienced crew of metal roofing experts know how to:
  • order materials precisely
  • obtain building permits and comply with local codes
  • remove and haul off old layers of existing roofs, when necessary, while cleaning your site to be free of debris (we can still go over 1-layer of asphalt shingles anywhere in Morgan County with a new metal roof)
  • place metal sheets and trims to keep your roof water-tight
  • work around penetrations in the roof such as vents, skylights, satellites, etc., while maintaining the water-tight seal
  • seal over abandoned penetrations, such as pipes or chimneys, if no longer needed
  • register the warranty on your behalf

Metal roofs can be custom-shaped and have fewer seams.
BCC uses the precise measurements of your roof and exact ordering so there is almost no wasted material left over.  Plus the materials are ordered in blocks for each slope of the roof to improve installation efficiency.  These in turn lower your costs.

Metal roof sheets cover from ridge to eave in one continuous sheet that is three feet wide.  Shingle roofs have a horizontal seam every five inches.  Metal roofs have a vertical seam every three feet, which sheds water better than the horizontal shingle seams.

Metal roof panels can cover nearly flat roofs.
Every roof slope has a pitch.  A roof with a very high roof peak would have a high pitch.  It is measured with a level or a pitch-finder tool to find how many inches of rise are in every foot of run (the run is the horizontal distance from the eave to the top peak of the roof). 45 degrees would be a 12:12 roof.  A typical house roof and pole barn is 4:12 pitch or 19°.  Steel can cover low-slope environments as low as 0.5:12 (2.386°) that shingles cannot provide.

Metal roofing has long-term warranties and service.
Premium painted metal panels are warrantied for film (paint) integrity, chalking and fading.  Galvalume-coated galvanized metal panels are warrantied for ruptures, structural failure and perforation.

BCC gives you peace of mind with very quick response to repair and warranty issues – without charge to you.  We are your first source of help with any metal condition concern that may arise.  Because we are a local contractor, rather than storm-chasers, we are nearby to help you for the long run.

Metal roofing is priced competitively compared to insurance payouts for metal roofs.
BCC is your intermediary with insurance adjusters.  We know how to understand insurance lingo and payments for like-kind roof replacements and upgrades to metal roofs.  Some insurance companies even offer discounts on premiums for upgrading to a metal roof (talk to your agent – not all companies do this.)

Metal panels are an excellent choice for commercial properties and farms, too.
Rental properties and businesses increase their value, curb appeal and longevity with a metal roof replacement.  Even small projects such as a metal-sheeted storage shed or dog house can be created from the ground up and delivered right to your yard.

Your farm buildings can be re-sheeted with new painted or galvalume-coated sidewalls and roofs.
